Since waiving Quinn Cook and his non-guaranteed contract, the Los Angeles Lakers have had two open roster spots. Not one, not two ... actually, just two.
The Lakers could have filled those spots anytime by signing a player to a pro-rated veteran’s minimum contract after Feb. 24, or by doing an uneven deal at the NBA trade deadline on March 25. They opted not to do the latter, which means they’re going to be major players in the buyout market, where they can sign two players to vet minimum deals.
As a result, the Lakers will be tied to a lot of player between now and the end of the regular season because, in spite of their recent struggles, they’re still one of the favorites to win the title. For that reason, we here at Silver Screen and Roll are going to round up the latest reputable rumors surrounding the team’s last two roster spots.
We can’t guarantee that all (or any) of these rumors will amount to anything meaningful, but what we can promise is try out best to contextualize the flurry of rumors that will be coming out and give you an idea of what the Lakers are looking for in their next player. If nothing else, it will be a tool for you to keep track of all of the players they’re being linked to, so it bookmark this page and check back in for updates.
