The Lakers could be adding some reinforcements to the roster on Wednesday in the form of Cam Reddish. After missing nearly a week of action due to a groin/adductor injury, Reddish has been upgraded to probable to return against the Pistons on Wednesday.
Over the last week, Reddish has been listed as questionable on the injury report.
Cam Reddish is probable for Wednesday’s game at Detroit, after missing three straight games following a groin strain suffered five minutes into LAL’s Nov. 21 game vs. Utah.— Mike Trudell (@LakersReporter) November 28, 2023
The Lakers desperately need players to return, particularly perimeter players who can add some depth on the wing. While Max Christie had a strong showing against the Cavaliers, he’s still a second-year player that’s out of his depth after not being in the rotation at all previously.
Reddish should represent the first of many players to return in the coming weeks. Rui Hachimura is set to be re-evaluated at week’s end after his nasal fracture. Jarred Vanderbilt is currently returning to action on the court and should be returning soon.
Getting healthier will solve some of the Lakers’ problems, none more so than just having more bodies available and having less pressure on each rotation player to perform at a high level night in and night out.
The Lakers haven’t been close to fully healthy this season. At the risk of jinxing things, the could finally be on an upward trend with injuries. Jalen Hood-Schifino made his debut on Monday, Reddish could be set to return on Wednesday. That alone is as much positive momentum they’ve had when it comes to injuries perhaps all season.
Yes, I’m knocking on lots and lots of wood.
