The Los Angeles Lakers entered free agency needing to form a whole new roster around its big three of Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis and LeBron James all while under heavy financial restrictions to the salary cap. The result was a flurry of moves in the opening 24 hours and an impressive number of value contracts the Lakers landed free agents on.

Landing the likes of Malik Monk and Kent Bazemore on minimum contracts and Kendrick Nunn on only part of the taxpayer midlevel exception all were deals that came in under market value.

Factoring that in, the latest episode of “Can U Dig It” — a podcast by Silver Screen and Roll — with hosts Jacob Rude and Christian Rivas digs into the biggest winners and losers of NBA free agency from players to teams and debating where the Lakers fall in that conversation.

But before doing that, they recap a wild Las Vegas Summer League opener that saw Austin Reaves’ late putback cap off a comeback from the Lakers to knock off the Suns. Strong play from Mac McClung and Devontae Cacok had them wondering if either could be in play for one of the Lakers' final roster spots as well.

Then the two give their reactions and thoughts on the Lakers' free agency and why they must be considered one of the winners of the period. They then look at the new home for two former Lakers in Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball and the Bulls and discuss how they’re both believers in what Chicago is doing.

They also look at the biggest loser of free agency, Dennis Schröder, and discuss how things went so poorly and whether there’s any form of a happy ending to his free agency nightmare on the horizon.
