This week on The Anthony Irwin Show, I welcomed my good pal and maybe the only person Lakers Twitter hates more than me, Matt Moore of The Action Network. The Lakers are going to be fascinating next year, and the entire NBA feels fairly wide open, which will make for a ton of drama.
One thing that’s been pretty interesting already this offseason has been the analysis surrounding Anthony Davis and the subsequent moves the Lakers made at his position specifically. I find it telling on several levels, and all of it might mean he really is ready to finally play his best position.
If that is indeed the case, and Davis is ready to make a leap this year, what kind of title favorite would that make the Lakers? And if Davis really is ready to become the best player on the roster, the circumstances around that shift will likely define how successful the Lakers are.
From there, Matt and I also covered the Western Conference potentially having a down season next year and what that would mean for the Lakers’ title chances. Both Matt and I are actually higher on the Lakers next season than you probably think.
We also took a look at the league as a whole, the Patrick Beverley trade, the Bucks’ decision to not bring back PJ Tucker, and a whole lot more.
