Dennis Schröder has said he wants to go and represent his home country of Germany during the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, but whether the unrestricted free agent gets his wish or not, he’s doing what he can to stay ready for next season. Schröder is already back in the gym, working out at the Lakers practice facility in El Segundo.
He documented the whole process in the latest vlog on his personal YouTube channel (h/t to our friends at Showtime Forum):

Do you want to see Schroder back next year?

Potentially more notable than Schröder’s workout routine, however? What Anthony Davis had to say when he ran into his teammate during that same session at the UCLA Health Training Center. Davis said that his injuries feel better, and that he “just needed time” to heal. This tracks with what he’s said previously about how he only needed a few weeks to rest up before he would be able to get back on the floor.
And now that Davis is able to play again, he told Schröder that he’s been working out “every day,” which would seem to be a good indicator of his level of motivation this summer:

Those are the highlights, but you can watch the entire video below:
It remains to be seen whether or not Schröder will be back with the Lakers next season, but between these two and the repeated gym sightings of Talen Horton-Tucker, we are getting plenty of signs that this Lakers team is not happy with how their season ended, and wants to put in the work to try and get a different result next season.
Only time will tell if their efforts will be enough, but they’re controlling what they can control for now.
