The NBA offseason is officially here. For teams like the Lakers, their disappointing 2020-21 campaign will likely force their front office to properly assess where improvements need to be made, and what did and didn’t work this season.
For the Lakers specifically, one of the more interesting positions worth monitoring as trade and free agency rumors begin spouting up is the team’s heavily discussed center spot, which is where this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday” — a podcast by Silver Screen and Roll — kicks off. On today’s show, our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla reviewed the often-polarizing seasons that were from Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol, and if they think either player will be back next season.
After that, they attempted to to decipher the Thursday report that Harrell is leaning towards opting-in to his contract for next season, and what it means and doesn’t mean for the Lakers, as well as how it could affect the team’s offseason trade and free agency efforts.
(Editor’s Note: This podcast was recorded before the news that the Lakers had extended a qualifying offer to Talen Horton-Tucker, so that news is not discussed)
