The Lakers have lots of decisions to make this offseason in free agency, and they start at the point guard position.
Dennis Schröder, Alex Caruso, and Talen Horton-Tucker will all be free agents this offseason (Horton-Tucker is restricted), and it will be interesting to see who the Lakers will try to sign to new contracts.
On the latest episode of the Silver Screen & Roll podcast, your hosts Jas Kang and Sabreena Merchant try to figure out which guards make sense in the Lakers’ future based on their individual skill sets, their performances this season, and their fits next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
They also spend some time on the big news of the day: James changing his jersey number to 6. The two hosts dissect James’ motivation for making the switch now and give some pros and cons for his decision. They also think about which jersey the Lakers will honor James in, if not both.
Finally, they spend some time talking the playoffs as a whole, giving their thoughts and predictions on the four conference semifinal series and the end-of-season awards that have been distributed to this point. They also discuss if anything that has happened in the playoffs has changed the way they view the Lakers and how this team should approach the offseason.
