Although the Lakers are still fresh off their first-round elimination at the hands of the Phoenix Suns, the team has already found themselves back in the headlines.
This time however, it is not due to a player, trade or something Magic Johnson said (actually strike that), but rather the rumored courtship around the league of assistant coach, Jason Kidd.
Kidd reportedly recently turned down the Blazers’ head coaching position after the team’s star Damian Lillard, publicly endorsed the potential hiring. His decision, or at least what is being reported outwardly, is a curious one and once again raises more questions than answers. Which brings us to today’s episode.
On this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday,” our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla briefly give their thoughts on the Lakers’ playoff exit, before then trying to figure out what’s going on with Kidd.
It’s also impossible not to notice that with almost every coach vacancy, Kidd is almost immediately initially tied to the open position before falling off as that hiring process continues. This would seem to indicate he has interest in being a head coach but teams and organizations are still hesitant to pull the trigger on him right now.
The duo also discuss Magic’s recent comments regarding Dennis Schröder and then continue to sigh over the team’s shooting after watching countless other playoff squads knock down shots.
