This time last week, the Los Angeles Lakers were tied with the Phoenix Suns in their first-round series 2-2 and were guaranteed an opportunity to even or win the series at Staples Center. That opportunity came and went, and the Lakers are now just one of the 22 teams watching the NBA Playoffs from the comfort of their homes.
Things likely would have turned out differently for the Lakers if Anthony Davis was healthy for the whole series and if LeBron James was 100%, but would another team in the Western Conference stopped them eventually? Christian and Jacob talk about that on this week’s episode of “Can U Dig It?”
But first, they recap all of the most interesting quotes from the Lakers’ exit interviews, including Dennis Schröder’s surprising verbal commitment to the team and Montrezl Harrell’s less-shocking answers to questions about his impending free agency.
They also talk about Jason Kidd’s decision to remove himself from consideration for the Portland Trail Blazers’ head-coaching position just a day after Damian Lillard publicly endorsed him. Does Kidd know something we don’t? (Probably not, but fake trades are fun).
