When Anthony Davis made his return for the Los Angeles Lakers in April, the biggest question surrounding him was whether or not he was going to be able find his footing before the start of the postseason. While the answer to that question has seemed unclear for the first few weeks, it’s looked more like a definitive yes as of late.
On Friday, Davis had recored 36 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Then, on Sunday, Davis tallied 42 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in a win against the Phoenix Suns, who are currently the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. If he’s not 100%, he’s close to it.
On today’s show, Christian and Jacob discuss Davis’ outstanding performance and how much it told us about a potential series between the Lakers and Suns in the playoffs. They also talk about how Davis’ play has made his teammates better; most notably Andre Drummond, who was a positive in the box score on Sunday.
They then talk about the Lakers’ other standout performer from Sunday night, Alex Caruso. In 31 minutes against the Suns, he racked up 17 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Suffice to say, he’s settling into his role as the team’s starting point guard nicely.
