The Lakers are just a few weeks away from the 2021 postseason, and it’s been something of a slog getting this regular season.

So today’s episode of the podcast takes a break from this year’s team and instead of focuses on last week’s champions, who feature prominently in the new book Bubbleball: Inside the NBA’s Fight to Save a Season. Ben Golliver, the author of that book, joins the show to talk about his experience as one of the few reporters in the bubble.

The only people who were there as long as Ben were the two Finals participants, and Ben shares what he observed about the Lakers in the process that helped them live up to their championship expectations. Sabreena and Ben also get into some of the asterisk talk that surrounded last year’s title, and why he firmly disagrees with such a characterization based on what he saw firsthand.

They finish off by making some comparisons between last year’s group and this one as Ben provides reasons for optimism about the 2021 playoffs, and then place the 2020 title in historical context.
