Andre Drummond signed with the Los Angeles Lakers and was given the starting center job from day one. However, through his first five games, he’s failed to create any separation between him and the team’s former starting center, Marc Gasol, on either side of the floor.
In today’s episode of “The 30,” Anthony and Jas kick things off by discussing Andre Drummond’s offensive struggles, the things that have contributed to them and how his role will change when LeBron James and Antony Davis return to the lineup. Anthony and Jas then talk about the Lakers’ “good problem” of having Gasol and Drummond on the roster.
Following that, Anthony and Jas share their thoughts on why they believe Frank Vogel should be getting some consideration for the NBA Coach of the Year Award. The Lakers have been playing .500 ball since losing both their superstars and have remained one of the best defensive teams in the league. Is that enough to get Vogel consideration for Coach of the Year?
To wrap things up, Anthony and Jas preview the Lakers’ upcoming game against their bitter rivals, the Boston Celtics, which will be played in front of fans at Staples Center. The last time the Lakers played a game in front of their fans at Staples Center was March 10, 2020, so it should be a fun one.
