Although the Los Angeles Lakers chose to stand pat at the NBA trade deadline for the second consecutive year, the club still found a way to add a big name (and body) with their signing of Andre Drummond, who practiced for the team for the first time on Tuesday.
Among other things, Drummond’s resume includes multiple NBA All-Star appearances and four rebounding championships. He’s essentially the rebounding equivalent of Pac-Man, gobbling up every board in sight.
Drummond also offers the Lakers the additional big they’ve long been rumored to be looking for. So with Drummond set to make his starting debut on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks — and other Lakers rumblings bubbling up to the surface — our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla had a lot to talk about on this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday.”
First, the guys were fortunate enough to be joined by Chris Herring of Sports Illustrated to discuss his recent story on Drummond and the value of rebounding in the modern game. Then, the duo gave their thoughts on the latest rumors of the day, including the report that Dennis Schröder turned down another contract extension and the likelihood of a Marc Gasol buyout.
