Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged in Los Angeles Lakers fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.
As the saying goes “winning fixes everything,” and the Los Angeles Lakers have won their last two games after losing their first three games without LeBron James and Anthony Davis. As a result, the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey showed a 30% uptick in team confidence from last week. That’s down from 89% two weeks ago, but it’s still an encouraging sign.
The survey also comes on the heels of the trade deadline. The Lakers were one of the few teams at the top of the Western Conference didn’t make a move at the trade deadline, but they still managed to use one of their open roster spots to sign an impact player in Andre Drummond.
Going strictly based off of trades made at the deadline, though, our voters gave the most credit to the Denver Nuggets, who acquired Aaron Gordon for Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton and a protected first-round pick.
It’s hard to say that any of the trades that were made at the deadline got teams closer to the Lakers, but they were aggressive, for sure. Now everyone will be tasked with filling out the final few spots on their roster in the buyout market. Even after signing Drummond, the Lakers have one roster spot left and they’re reportedly hoping to sign a 3-and-D player.
Still, even if they don’t get their wish of landing a 3-and-D player, they’ll still be one of the biggest winners of the buyout market, if not the winners. I guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks.
