The Los Angeles Lakers are on a roll. With a win over the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night, the Lakers extended their winning streak to four games, all of which they’ve had to play without Anthony Davis, who’s still recovering from Achilles tendinosis. They also got back within striking distance of the No. 1 seed in the West, and stayed undefeated since the All-Star break.
A number of players have stepped up in Davis’ absence, including Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma, there’s been one man who has been most responsible for making their success possible: LeBron James.
On today’s episode of “I Love Basketball,” Sabreena and Christian talked about James’ latest display of dominance, which may or may have not been motivated by the fact that he was playing against 19-year-old phenom LaMelo Ball. They then talked about whether or not this recent run of games with Davis has strengthened James’ MVP case. The Lakers struggled in their first few contests without Davis, but they’ve looked almost as good as they did when Davis was healthy in their last few games, even without him.
Finally, they talk about the news that Marc Gasol has re-joined the team, what he’ll add when he returns to the court, and how the Lakers’ reported interest in Andre Drummond could change his role with the future. Would a Drummond signing force Gasol to the bench, or would Drummond fill in the role Dwight Howard last season? Sabreena and Christian debated all that and more on our latest postgame show.
