Every team that made the playoffs last season got a new “Earned Edition” version of their uniforms, and the Lakers are no different in that respect. What is different for their new threads, however, is that the black kit — seemingly inspired by the Black Mamba jerseys they had so much postseason success in last year — not only is a nod to their past playoff run with the dominant color, but also features a small touch that sets them apart from any other teams’ Earned Edition jerseys.
OKC Tracker was the first to leak a look at the jerseys, and caught the cool little detail:

You can also look at some even tighter close-ups on the Lakers’ website.
It’s unknown when the Lakers will debut these, but they’re a cool twist on the already classic Mamba jerseys. Every team in the league has seemingly tried to do an edgy, black version of their uniform over the last decade, but something about black along with some forum blue and gold really makes the Lakers’ versions stand out. It’s a nice tribute to their Mamba past and the championship they’re defending, as well as a re-designed nod to this season being different.
And when you couple these with the white and blue versions the Lakers have rocked this year, they really didn’t miss on any of their alternates this season. We have yet to see if the nearly undefeated magic of the Mamba unis transfers over to these ones, but however the games they play in them go, the Lakers are going to look good while they’re rocking these.
That’s not all that matters, but you know the old adage: Look good, play good, right? If that holds true, the Lakers are in good shape here.
