Podcast: The Lakers are incapable of making things easy

Even in the middle of a five-game winning streak, the Lakers like to make us sweat things out a bit.

The Lakers certainly don’t make things easy. Yes, they are winners of their last five games. And yes, they are only percentage points from being the top seed in the Western Conference. But still, it’s been a slog. Or at least it’s felt like it while watching their recent victories.

Three overtimes later, the Lakers squeaked out wins against the lowly Detroit Pistons and the surprisingly game, but shorthanded, Thunder in two consecutive games over the last three days. Although Monday’s 119-112 win over Oklahoma City felt more like a sigh of a relief than a rallying cry, there were still bright spots and lessons worth analyzing, which brings us to today’s episode of our postgame show.

On this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday” — one of our daily Silver Screen and Roll podcasts — our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla recapped the Lakers’ late win over the Thunder, Wes Matthews’ reemergence in that victory, kooky lineups from the game and what it feels like to watch the team sleepwalk for most of their recent stretch. And seriously, they might actually be sleepwalking:

Finally, to wrap up the show, the two also previewed the squad’s upcoming schedule, which includes yet another matchup with the Thunder on Wednesday.

Here’s hoping for just four quarters in that one.
