The Lakers are still a work in progress, but Sunday was a big step in the right direction.
After back-to-back losses to open the season — and more importantly, back-to-back frustrating performances — the Lakers showed a glimpse of what they could be this season on Sunday in a 121-118 win over the Grizzlies.
Carmelo Anthony rolled back the clocks on a night he also moved into ninth all-time in scoring, pouring in a team-high 28 points. The Lakers needed every one of his points to hold off the young, energetic Grizzlies for the first win of the season.
On this latest episode of “Can U Dig It,” a podcast by the Silver Screen & Roll network, Jacob and Christian recap easily the most fun Lakers game of the season.
In addition to discussing Anthony’s big and historic night, the two look at Austin Reaves’ emergence into a legitimate role player after his saw rotation minutes for the first time on Sunday. They also discuss what his improved player means for the Lakers rotation as a whole as they move closer to full health.
They also look at not just Anthony’s big night, but his role on the Lakers and how important he is and potentially will be this season. They wrap up with some thoughts on Russell Westbrook’s continued improvement this season, the Lakers playing fast on Sunday and how the LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Westbrook synergy is improving.
