Like most of us, the Los Angeles Lakers are currently in “wait and see” mode. After breezing by the Portland Trail Blazers in five games in the first round, the Lakers won’t know who their next opponent will be until Wednesday, when the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder will be play the decisive Game 7 of their series.
Whether the Lakers having been using their newfound free time to play video games like Anthony Davis, wistfully dream of pizza like Frank Vogel or spend time with their guests that recently arrived in the bubble, the team appears to be confident going into the second round. But is this same sentiment shared by fans?
On this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday,” our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla spend the majority of the show gauging their confidence level heading into the second round and beyond given what they have seen from the team so far. The Lakers have posted a top-five offensive rating, top-five defensive rating and top-three net rating through five playoff games.
The two also discuss the pros and cons of having additional time off between series, and the trickiness of incorporating Rajon Rondo back into the lineup after even more time off. Frank Vogel has said he’s “hopeful” that Rondo will play in the second round.
