Podcast: Surprise! The Lakers are still pretty good.

The Lakers made a statement in Game 2, even if it was an obvious statement.

If you can believe it, the Los Angeles Lakers bounced back from their disappointing Game 1 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers with a statement win in Game 2 on Thursday.

The win was the Lakers’ first playoff victory since May 18, 2012. For context as to how long ago that was, the first Avengers movie was released a week prior to that game. Suffice to say, it’s been a while.

Silver Screen and Roll podcast hosts Christian Rivas and Sabreena Merchant celebrated the Lakers’ big win by talking about their favorite moments from the game, most of which came from Anthony Davis, who tallied 31 points and 11 rebounds in just under 30 minutes on Thursday, making some history in the process. Davis is the first player in Lakers history to record at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in fewer than 30 minutes played. Only five other players have done it in NBA history.

That’s good, we think.

They also talked about why they’re confident that Davis can sustain this level of play for the remainder of the series, and whether or not they believe it will be enough to keep the Lakers’ offense afloat as they try to string together a few good shooting nights in the NBA playoffs. The Lakers shot 47.8% from the field on Thursday, including 36.8% from 3-point range, but Danny Green was still a no-show from behind the arc, continuing a recent issue for the team.

We’ve got all of that and more postgame goodness on tonight’s Silver Screen & Roll Postgame Show.
