On Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that voting for the NBA’s regular season awards will take place from July 21-28, and that the results will be announced during the playoffs as opposed to after the playoffs like they’ve done in recent years.

While this means that anything that happens in the eight seeding in Orlando will be excluded from voters’ consideration, this new timetable does bring the extra fun of players looking to take their frustration out on the floor once announcements are made, just like old times. How many of those slighted players will be Lakers is still to be seen.

Which brings us to today’s episode.

On this week’s edition of Talk-O-Tuesday, our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla spend the majority of the show handing out their own league awards, including MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Frank Vogel deserve to be in the conversation for each respective award, but did they do enough before the season’s suspension to be considered the favorites?

The two also discuss Anthony Davis’ interesting comment in JaVale McGee’s latest vlog, and run down the suddenly full Los Angeles sports slate this week. Baseball and basketball are back, people!
