Have you wondered what life in the NBA bubble might be like as the Lakers get set to resume the NBA season? Well, then you’re in luck, because on the latest episode of “The 30,” a podcast by Silver Screen and Roll, host Jas Kang is joined by Hall of Fame Sports Photographer, New York Times best-selling author and man who will be in the bubble documenting the NBA’s return, Andy Bernstein. His podcast, Legends of Sport (LOS), currently in its third season, is now being co-produced by the Los Angeles Times.
(Editor’s Note: This episode was recorded before Rajon Rondo broke his thumb, which Harrison and Christian will discuss on tonight’s show)
To kick things off, Andy discusses staying in Orlando for the NBA bubble, and spending time away from his family. Then, Andy talks working for the Lakers and Clippers, and how they might perform during the NBA’s restart.
After that, Andy opens up about his path from growing up in Brooklyn to being a Hall of Fame photographer, and his favorite moments from spending time with Kobe Bryant, who he developed a special bond with over decades of shooting photos of him. Bernstein also talked about how the Mamba Mentality — both the philosophy, and the book of the same name that he and Bryant co-published — impacted him.
Finally, to wrap things up, Andy shares some advice for any young, aspiring photographers.
