The NBA is set to tip off 41 days, and while we know that the Los Angeles Lakers will be one of the 22 teams competing for the 2019-20 championship, we don’t know exactly what their roster will look like — at least not yet.
In light of the civil unrest in the country, and the growing number of coronavirus cases in Orlando specifically, a handful of players — including Avery Bradley and Dwight Howard — have pushed back on the NBA’s plan to finish the season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World. Bradley and Howard’s public opposition to the season restarting has caused some fans to wonder whether or not they’ll travel with the Lakers to Orlando next month.
On today’s episode of “Can U Dig It?”, a podcast by Silver Screen and Roll, co-hosts Jacob Rude and Christian Rivas imagined a scenario where the Lakers don’t have Bradley and Howard for their championship chase, and discuss the ways the front office might be able to compensate for their combined contributions.
The Lakers have the depth to sustain the level of dominance they’ve displayed this season, but would they consider adding talent to their roster during the league’s upcoming transaction window? If so, could their former center DeMarcus Cousins be of any service to them?
Christian and Jacob also talked about why there’s reason to be optimistic that Bradley and Howard will finish the season with the Lakers without compromising their morals and beliefs.
