It’s Marvel Theme Week at SB Nation, so the “I Love Basketball” crew decided to take a Marvel-themed look at this year’s Lakers team. The best way to do that is for Sabreena and Anthony to assign Marvel superhero analogs for each of the current Lakers, at least the ones in the rotation.

There are a number of ways to make comparisons between the Lakers and the Marvel heroes (all from the cinematic universe, as Sabreena and Anthony are unfamiliar with the comic books), so they consider them all: physical comps, character arcs, personality, and so much more.

The Marvel heroes are incredibly multi-faceted, and the Lakers are similarly versatile, so arguments can be made for a variety of hero/Laker comparisons. As a result, Sabreena and Anthony only arrived at the same conclusion once, so they’re forced to explain their choices and make a case for why they made the best decision.

This is a really fun dive back into the Marvel movies, as well as another way to celebrate one of the more likable teams in Lakers memory. If you have any suggestions for more fitting comparisons, let us know in the comments.
