The only word that can be used to describe how the Los Angeles Lakers have played this year is dominant. Through 63 games, they’re the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with 5.5 games separating them from the No. 2 seed LA Clippers, and seven games separating them from the No. 3 seed Denver Nuggets. The Lakers are also the only team in the Western Conference with a guaranteed spot in the postseason.
They’ve been great, but their greatness is about to be put to the test. In a few months, the Lakers will (likely) play in their first playoff series since the 2012-13 season. As great as they’ve been in the regular season, the postseason is a completely different beast, and they’ll have to prove they can stick together on basketball’s biggest stage.
On today’s episode of “Can U Dig It?”, co-hosts Christian Rivas and Jacob Rude ranked the Lakers based on how much value they have going into the postseason. While you can probably guess the two players at the top of the list, there’s a level of uncertainty beyond those two. Which players are going to step and help LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead the Lakers to their 17th championship in franchise history? Stick around and find out what they think.
Jacob and Christian also talked about the latest news regarding the NBA’s return, and the timelines that have reportedly been discussed. Whether or not those timelines hold up, you should probably pack warm clothes for “Summer” League this year, assuming it happens.
