The NBA season is on an indefinite suspension, and while the hope is that the league will be able to resume play in June, no one knows exactly when the Los Angeles Lakers will play their next game, or if they’ll play another game at all this season.
That’s a tough pill for Lakers fans to swallow, especially because their team is in the midst of their most successful season in almost a decade, and it becomes more difficult when you consider that Anthony Davis will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
In an effort to make that waiting period more bearable, we here at Silver Screen and Roll decided it would be a good idea to simulate the rest of the Lakers’ season on NBA 2K20 and recap the games as if they actually happened on the days they were scheduled to be played. We started our simulation last week, and have simulated six games since then.
Here’s everything you should know:
- We used the “start today” option in MyLeague to jump to the current point in the schedule, so basically everything that happened with the real Lakers has happened to our virtual ones.
- None of the players around the league that were infected with coronavirus are affected in this simulation.
- The Lakers have won the last six games since we started doing this project, and are 55-14 as of the publishing of this post.
- DeMarcus Cousins signed a one-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets, for some reason.
With that in mind, enjoy the season!
