It’s the eve of the NBA trade deadline and, as far as we know, the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t had anything more than exploratory talks with other teams. While that could change over the next 24 hours, it’s possible that they’re content with standing pat, and the recent play of Kyle Kuzma is a big reason for that.
Whether it’s the trade rumors or the death of his mentor, Kobe Bryant, that’s motivated him as of late, he’s looked much more active on the floor. In his last three games, Kuzma has averaged 15.7 points on 51.5% shooting from the field and 9.7 rebounds. On Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs, he tallied 18 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
The question is: Can Kuzma keep this level of play up for the rest of the season, or is this just another hot streak? If not, is he worth keeping around?
We cover that and more on today’s Silver Screen and Roll podcast.
Talk-O-Tuesday
In what felt like a return to normalcy (or as close as we’re going to get), the Lakers 129-102 win over the Spurs was fun.
And when considering the recent tragedy and looming trade deadline, a fun win was exactly what this team and its fans needed — which brings us to today’s episode.
On today’s show, Alex Padilla and Alex Regla give their instant reactions to the Lakers’ win, as well as discussing if Kyle Kuzma’s recent strong play is sustainable.
Our hosts also broke down the four-team trade that occurred last night, how it relates to the Lakers and whether or not it is likely the team makes a move by Thursday’s deadline.
