The Los Angeles Lakers made a handful of surprising moves in the offseason, but none of them were as surprising as their signing of Montrezl Harrell. On Nov. 20, the Lakers and Harrell agreed to a two-year deal for the full mid-level exception. Harrell has a player option in the second year of his contract, making it essentially a one-year deal, but the short length of the contract didn’t make it any less shocking.

The initial shock of the signing has since worn off, and the focus has been shifted to the start of the NBA season, The Lakers will play four preseason games before playing their first game of the regular season on Dec. 22 against Harrell’s former team.

On today’s podcast, Christian and Jacob discuss the biggest takeaways from the Lakers’ first practice on Sunday, including Harrell’s comments on the team’s leaders and the often complicated process of building chemistry with a new team.

Christian and Jacob also discuss the things they’re looking forward to in the preseason games, as well as the things they’re not. Spoiler alert: the noise around the three games the Lakers will play against the Clippers isn’t going to be fun.
