On the tail-end of their first back-to-back of the season, the Lakers fell to the Portland Trail Blazers, 115-107, on Monday night. The team raced out of the gate with the same offensive firepower they displayed the night before, but swiftly went cold once their reserves came onto the court, a trend that continued for the rest of the evening and helped ultimately lose the game for the purple and gold.
On the other side, Blazers guard Gary Trent Jr. erupted for 28 points off the bench for Portland, and the Lakers never could put in the necessary effort to get over the hump, despite a few solid offensive runs, all of which brings us to today’s episode. On this week’s edition of “Talk-O Tuesday” — a podcast by Silver Screen and Roll, recorded on a Monday this week — our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla recapped the Lakers’ loss to the Blazers, and gave their takeaways about what they saw from the offense and defense in the defeat.
After that, Alex and Alex also detailed why nights like this need to get cleaned up given the Lakers’ upcoming soft schedule, and the potential bad habits that could form if they keep taking games like this at half speed, before finally wrapping things up with a discussion about Marc Gasol vs. Montrezl Harrell, and their place in closing lineups, as well as why they both love Dennis Schröder so much.
