The Los Angeles Lakers made a ton of new additions this offseason, and under ideal circumstances, we would have done an individual podcast about each and every one of them to preview what they bring to the table. Unfortunately, for more reasons than one, this year has been full of less than ideal circumstances.
Still, we wanted to preview at least one Laker before the season began, and Marc Gasol is one of the most interesting new additions, so on the latest episode of “Lakers, Explained” — a podcast by Silver Screen and Roll — Harrison was joined by Katie Heindl of Uproxx, The Dishes and Dimes Podcast and a whole bunch of other places. Katie has covered Gasol with the Toronto Raptors for the last several years and is one of the foremost Marc Gasol appreciators on the internet, and so Harrison couldn’t think of anyone better to talk about the team’s (presumably) starting center.
To start things off, Harrison and Katie discussed what Gasol’s last several years with the Raptors have been like, and what the current state of his game is. Then, they got into whether or not Katie was surprised to see him depart Toronto/Tampa Bay, and how he might fit in with the Lakers’ unique array of talent. Finally, they wrapped things up by talking about Serge Ibaka’s fit with the Clippers, and whether or not he makes them more of a threat to the Lakers should the two teams match up in the playoffs.
You can listen to all that and more in the full episode embedded below, and to make sure you don’t miss a single one moving forward, subscribe to the Silver Screen and Roll podcast feed on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher or Google Podcasts.
