After two surprisingly fun preseason games spearheaded by the emergence of Talen Horton-Tucker, the Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly be back to near full strength on Wednesday as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are set to make their preseason debuts against the Phoenix Suns.
For Lakers fans, the star duo’s return will provide a clearer picture of what the new roster looks like with most of the key players available to play, as well as the roster’s potential compared to last season’s group, which brings us to today’s podcast.
On this week’s episode of “Talk-O Tuesday,” our hosts Alex Padilla and Alex Regla previewed James and Davis’ return to the starting lineup, and discussed the the pairings they’re most excited to watch. Marc Gasol showed how much his ability to make plays from the elbow can benefit the team — what will happen when James and Davis are added to the mix?
After that, they also discussed their biggest takeaways from the team’s first two preseason contests, and the potential rotation challenges that Frank Vogel and his staff must manage now that how deep this team actually is has been fully revealed. Horton-Tucker’s breakout may be good for the Lakers long-term, but it could create a “good problem” for the Lakers in the short term. We’ll see how Vogel divvies up the minutes on Wednesday.
