When the final buzzer sounded in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, the offseason officially started for the Los Angeles Lakers. It might not feel like the offseason for a while because they won their first championship in 10 years not even a week ago, but it is.
With the offseason comes rumors surrounding the draft and free agency, the latter of which will be of particular importance to the Lakers. Of the 17 players the Lakers brought with them to Orlando, 10 of them will enter unrestricted free agency. That’s not including Avery Bradley, who has a player option for next season.
In today’s podcast, Christian and Jas talk about the Lakers’ internal free agents, starting with Anthony Davis. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Davis is planning to opt out of his contract and re-sign with the Lakers, but we still have no idea what the terms of the contract will look like.
Following that, the guys discuss which of the Lakers with player options they want back in the fold for the 2021 NBA season, including Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is also expected to opt out of his contract. Then, they move onto the rest of the team, which includes key players like Markieff Morris and Dwight Howard.
