The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Brooklyn Nets last night, but before getting to that, host Sabreena Merchant was joined by Jas Kang from Silver Screen and Roll’s “The 30” podcast to talk about the big news of the day: That LeBron James and Anthony Davis are headed to Chicago for the 2020 NBA All-Star game as starters, with James as one of the game’s two captains.

Sabreena and Jas gave their thoughts on the selections, as well as Alex Caruso finishing fourth in fan voting. They also debated LeBron’s obligation as an All-Star captain to pick Davis first in the player draft, and Jas has some suggestions for how the NBA can fix All-Star Weekend itself.

They then move on to the Lakers’ 128-113 win over the Nets, and its primary takeaway being that Frank Vogel and the coaching staff will also being joining James and Davis in Chicago. They went deep on the defensive adjustments Vogel and the Lakers made to help slow down a potent Nets offense, before lamenting the lack of any lingering LeBron-Kyrie beef.

The two conclude with a discussion of the L.A.’s perfect record in back-to-backs this season, and how their approach to the regular season compares to other contenders in the league.
