The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in the somewhat precarious position of having to wait out a season and then hope a superstar re-signs at year’s end. Fortunately for them, their standing with Anthony Davis is about as good as they could ask for, and the chances of him sticking around feel pretty high. Our podcast hosts discuss that, as well as several other topics, in today’s shows.
The Lake Show
Harrison and I kicked off our player preview series with Davis by first discussing his eventual potential interest in playing for his hometown Chicago Bulls. The phrasing he used in an interview in which he was specifically asked about returning home didn’t exactly inspire fear from either Harrison or me, so we had some fun accordingly.
Then, in the second segment, we got around to previewing Davis’ season. Even while these stories are going to be pervasive right up until the moment Davis actually makes his decision, the point of all this is to enjoy at least some of the basketball we’re going to be able to watch, and the idea of Davis and LeBron James on the same team is pretty damn exciting.

Locked on Lakers
To start today’s episode, I welcomed Dr. Jennifer Irwin, DPT-PT (and the boss of my household) on to discuss whether she thinks DeMarcus Cousins can make something close to a full recovery from his ruptured achilles and torn quadricep. Her analysis should actually excite you.
From there, I opened up the mailbag to get to as many questions from listeners as I could. Topics included: Chris Paul and whether he might become available (he won’t), whether Davis is better than Giannis Antetokuonmpo, and plenty more.
