The cast for “Space Jam 2” has been set and it looks like LeBron James will be able to tamper his heart out when filming starts this summer. According to ESPN and Lakeshowworld.com, James and the Looney Tunes will be joined by NBA stars Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Chris Paul and WNBA stars Diana Taurasi and Nneka Ogwumike will also join the cast, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
While James can’t recruit Taurasi and Ogwumike for obvious reasons, he can try and use his power as the film’s star and producer to get to know his peers a little better in hopes of one day luring them to Los Angeles. Here’s a breakdown of his cast’s contractual obligations and their pathway to the Lakers:
Anthony Davis: Anthony Davis is a Laker.
Damian Lillard: Damian Lillard has two years remaining on his contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, and while he’s said in the past that he’d love to be a Trail Blazer for life, he might get a taste of the Hollywood lifestyle and like it.
Klay Thompson: Klay Thompson is an unrestricted free agent and will likely re-sign with the Golden State Warriors on a four-year, max deal. However, if the Warriors get cute with Thompson and offer him less than the max because of his recently-torn ACL, it’s been rumored that he has interest in teaming up with James and Davis in L.A.
Chris Paul: Chris Paul is a member of the Houston Rockets and James should respect that. There is no room for tampering in this great league, even for a player of Paul’s caliber.
Filming is set to begin this summer. You know what else is this summer? Free agency.
Boom. Mic drop. Let’s do this.
