Magic Johnson and Jeanie Buss meet for dinner, are reportedly in ‘regular contact’

Everything is fine between Magic Johnson and Lakers controlling owner Jeanie Buss. I repeat, this is fine.

Stop what you’re doing immediately! For the first time since his abrupt resignation last month, former Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson has been pictured with team president and controlling owner Jeanie Buss.

According to pictures posted by both Johnson and Buss, the two met for dinner on Thursday night and it doesn’t look like there’s any bad blood between them:

In fact, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, there has been no gap in communication between Johnson and Buss since he resigned:

What does this mean exactly? To tell you the truth: I have no idea.

With the exception of these two pictures and a tweet from Buss last month, there has been radio silence on the Lakers’ end since Johnson stepped down from his job via an impromptu press conference. It’s been three weeks and some change since that fateful day and the organization hasn’t made it clear what their next step is — at least not directly.

There have been several reports over the last several weeks that have suggested general manager Rob Pelinka will assume the position of president of basketball operations, but no one from the Lakers —including Buss — has made that official yet. Granted, they don’t technically have to announce anything if Pelinka’s position isn’t going to change, but after the team lost its president of basketball operations and head coach within days of each other, some clarity would be nice.

In the meantime, it looks like Buss, Pelinka, Kurt and Linda Rambis will be making all of the important decisions for the Lakers — including who will be the team’s next head coach — going forward and when Johnson is need, he’ll be around.
