In what has been a nice change of pace, things have been relatively quiet for a little while now as the Los Angeles Lakers continue their search for a head coach. Because it’s the Lakers, though, there’s still plenty to talk about. Our crossover series continues.
Silver Screen and Roll Podcast
On today’s show, Harrison and Alex talked about where the Lakers are at now, how they got here, and the questions facing the organization moving forward. How does the league perceive the team? In the wake of mixed reporting on their perception, it’s a key question that will be answered to some degree this summer.
Also, Harrison and Alex are in agreement that Tyronn Lue has the best basketball case for being named the team’s next head coach, but also discussed an interesting theory from Alex on one reason why it’s not safe to call him a perfect choice just yet. They also delved into Larry Nance, Jr. addressing that report about him and Rob Pelinka, and the growing feeling that Pelinka’s perception around the league isn’t all negative, and actually appears a little mixed. Then, they wrapped up with a new game centered on Magic Johnson’s tweets. You won’t want to miss it.

Locked on Lakers
On today’s show, Pete and I start by discussing Game of Thrones and the tactics utilized in the battle of Winterfell. I wasn’t impressed.
With that behind us, we turned out attention to lessons the Lakers have to learn from the failings of the Luke Walton era. Interestingly enough, each of those lessons can be extended to at least one of the three coaches the Lakers are currently interviewing (Tyronn Lue, Monty Williams and Juwan Howard).
From there, we look at how the playoffs have gone thus far to figure out which direction the Lakers should go in to compete next season. Pete and I actually kind of disagree on a macro level on this, which provides for a fun discussion.
We got deeper into that, as well as several other topics raised by listeners. You can listen to the entire episode below, and make sure to subscribe on iTunes, where you can also leave questions in the form of a five-star review to guarantee your topic makes the show.
