The news has slowed down for the summer (by the normal standard of the Los Angeles Lakers, at least), but our show hosts still have a ton to talk about. Everyone’s focus is on the head coach and what the team’s approach to finding one says about the organization’s direction.
Silver Screen and Roll Podcast
In the first episode of the Silver Screen & Roll podcast crossover season, Christian Rivas and Sabreena Merchant team up to talk about the latest progress in the Lakers’ head coaching search. Now that Ty Lue and Monty Williams have emerged from the pack as the two most likely candidates, Christian and Sabreena go through some of the pros and cons of each, including their thoughts about the overall hiring process.
Although both of them are optimistic about the in-depth nature of the Lakers’ interviews, and the fact that Rob Pelinka is including Jesse and Joey Buss in the latest round, they also discussed some of their doubts about Pelinka’s stewardship of the Lakers. Of particular interest is what LeBron James thinks of the team’s basketball operations. Will he remain passive and outwardly support the front office or will he reach a breaking point this offseason?
Finally, they close out the discussion with a lighter topic: Adam McKay’s scripted series about the “Showtime” era. They go through some of their preferred casting choices for the project, and celebrate the beauty of movie magic.
Locked on Lakers
As with every week, I opened up the mailbag to answer your questions. The focus was mostly on the coaching search and the overall direction of the franchise, but there were a couple fun ones mixed in as well.
