LeBron James made his grand re-entry back into the headlines, first with rumors of him losing trust with the Lakers, and then with the extremely LeBron James Instagram post denying said rumors. All that noise doesn’t take away from the fact that the Lakers are still facing the daunting task of giving him a roster (if not entire organization) he can win with.
Can You Dig It
There have been whispers that LeBron James isn’t happy with the direction the Lakers are trending, however, James himself has gone out of his way to pour cold water on those rumors. If there is any truth to them, though, the Lakers have a small — if not non-existent — margin for error this summer, starting with NBA Draft Lottery on May 14 and then free agency on July 1.
With the number of big name free agents that will be available this summer, it’s not hard to imagine the Lakers will sign someone, but what would happen if they didn’t? What if free agents look at everything that has gone wrong with the franchise over the last year and don’t want to be a part of it?
I’ll do you one better: What would happen if James asked to be traded from Los Angeles? Would the Lakers do it? What could they even get?
Jacob and Christian talk about all of that and more on this week’s episode of “Can You Dig It?” Our sincerest apologies in advance.

Locked on Lakers
For today’s episode, I welcomed Carter Rodriguez (Fear The Sword, The Chasedown Pod) to figure out what is going on with LeBron and the Lakers. First, there were reports of potential distrust between him and the organization stemming from damage done by Magic Johnson’s departure, then those reports were backed down from, kind of.
We essentially treated the situation as a hypothetical in order to figure out why LeBron might potentially be frustrated or have less trust now than he did when he first signed in Los Angeles. There’s a lot to dig through here, starting with Tyronn Lue and how the Lakers might not hire him despite how much sense he seems to make.
We also ask the billion-dollar question: Would LeBron ever ask out of this situation?
