Poll: LBJ for AD straight up?

We've all been talking about AD a lot, how we could get him, if we have the assets, if New Orleans hates us too much to even think about doing a deal, all that stuff.

But there's one discussion we haven't had, a deal that really make sense for everybody from a lot of angles, and that is

AD for LBJ STRAIGHT UP!

The original plan was that we were going to get another top-tier free agent to play with LeBron. At this point it looks like that is not happening, which means our chances of winning a title are not very good, which is why it may be time to alter the course.

Most people are agreed that LeBron probably only has a couple of years left at the top level while AD is much younger and probably has many more top quality years left in him, although he has had an unfortunate tendency to get injured, which is worrisome but sometimes you have to take a chance.

NO gets 2 years of LeBron instead of one year of AD, a Lebron who will put plenty of butts in their seats and get them National exposure. They would know they wouldn't win titles but all the marketing stuff is much more important to them than it is to LA.

LA gets a much younger guy who is one of the top five players in the NBA today and gets out of the crazy win-now pressure, pressure which puts us in danger of handing out some contracts we may really come to regret in a year or two (JB).

Plus there are a lot of guys who might not want to play in LeBron's shadow who will want to play with AD. That's huge.

This deal makes sense for everybody, except maybe for a guy who wants to be close to Hollywood, but we are under no obligations to such a person. He could have had a no-trade clause put in his contract but didn't. That means something. LBJ is extremely smart, as is his agent. if that clause isn't there, it's not there for a reason, because without a doubt Magic would have agreed to it.

Ideally you would want some assurances that AD was going to re-sign with the Lakers, but maybe you just have to bet one year of LeBron against 5 years of AD.

What do you think?
