The Los Angeles Lakers won a game in Orlando against the Magic that, well, happened, and that’s about as much as you can say about it. Our hosts discussed that, plus a few other topics swirling around the team.
Can You Dig It?
Jacob and Christian broke down what was a weirdly competitive game between the Lakers and Orlando Magic and the things that stood out, like the fact that LeBron James is really, really good and the team actually has pretty good depth.
They also talk about the upcoming trade season and lay out the reasons it’s far more likely the Lakers will be active in the buyout market than in the trade market.
With a disabled player exception worth $1.75 million, the Lakers will be in a position to be outbid many teams, and they’ll have a convincing pitch to make free agents if they still hold the best record in the NBA in February. However, in order to sign someone, they’ll have to waive someone. Who could that player be?

Locked on Lakers
To start the show, I recapped (as best I could) an overall ugly Lakers win. But, over the course of an 82-game season, wins like these still count, even if blowing such a large lead was a missed opportunity for some much-needed rest heading into a long road trip.
Also of note from the game is Jared Dudley’s performance, which Kyle Kuzma can learn from as he sits with his various maladies.
Speaking of Kuzma, many of the questions from today’s foray into the mailbag had to do with the third-year wing, who just can’t seem to get his legs under him. Listeners were interested in figuring out what might be going on and, if these issues aren’t fixable, what his trade market might be.
Other questions were about everything from DeMarcus Cousins to fixing the NBA.
