After an exhausting trip to China for the Lakers and their viewing audience alike, Staples Center and a 7:30 p.m. start time, proved to be a sight for sore eyes.
The team looked much more spritely and competitive in their 104-98 victory over the Warriors, getting key contributions from up and down the roster. It was an encouraging sign in what has been an otherwise uneven preseason, as our hosts explain on this week’s shows.
Silver Screen & Roll Podcast
In today’s episode, the Alex’s recap the Lakers’ win over Golden State, praise Dwight Howard’s solid performance, discuss why Alex Caruso continues to struggle offensively and go over the latest injury report (it’s good news).
From there, our hosts give their thoughts on LeBron James’ polarizing comments regarding the Daryl Morey/China backlash, and whether James’ role in this situation will go away anytime soon.

Locked on Lakers
Pete and I spend the first two segments discussing James’ disappointing thoughts on Daryl Morey and the NBA’s controversy with China. We both agree that James’ comments fell well short, and explain why he’s being held to a higher expectation than most athletes. It has everything to do with the precedent he’s set by proclaiming himself “More Than An Athlete.”
From there, we discussed the latest on both Anthony Davis’ and Kyle Kuzma’s injuries. While the news on Davis is objectively good and Kuzma’s isn’t all that concerning quite yet, I wasn’t thrilled with the framing of the information.
Finally, seeing as there was a game last night, we discuss some of the things we liked from it, including Dwight Howard’s passing ability and Zach Norvell Jr. putting on a show.
