In just eight days, the world will find out whether or not the Los Angeles Lakers successfully pulled off a trade for Anthony Davis. Until then, we’re going to talk through all of the latest Lakers trade rumors and broadcast them on our podcast channel. Enjoy.

Can You Dig It?

On this week’s episode of “Can You Dig It?”, Grant and Christian talk about the growth the Lakers’ young core has shown without LeBron James and the bright spots from their loss the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.

Just kidding — it’s literally just 30 minutes of Anthony Davis talk.

By Thursday, Feb. 7, there’s a 50 percent chance that Davis will be a member of the Lakers. However, in order for that to happen, team president Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka will have to put their best offer on the table.

Grant and Christian discuss what that offer might look like and they also dive into the possibility that the Lakers strike out on Davis completely.

Locked on Lakers

For today’s episode, Anthony welcomed Matt Moore of The Action Network to discuss this Anthony Davis situation from a wider perspective. Matt offered up some of what he’s heard about how some people around the league view what the Lakers might be offering up for Davis.

Anthony makes the case that those who think the Lakers’ young core would be a disappointing return are underrating various aspects of said young core. Recency bias, disdain for the Lakers franchise, itself, and several other factors are at play.

Matt also makes an interesting and daunting point about what trading Davis likely means for basketball in New Orleans. It got pretty real.
