As is to be expected following a loss against the worst team in the NBA, rumors about the temperature of the seat Luke Walton sits in have been swirling at a break-neck pace. Today’s podcast content addresses that speculation and whether it’s well-founded, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers being awful at free-throws and LeBron James potentially missing even more time.
The Lake Show
On today’s episode, Harrison and I start by discussing the fallout at practice following the worst loss of the season. The Lakers are one of the worst free-throw shooting teams in recent memory — a remarkable feat considering the lack of a truly awful free-throw shooter who gets to the line with considerable regularity. Fortunately for all, the Lakers got a few extra shots up from the line after practice Monday afternoon. Problem solved, really.
After a brief introduction, Harrison and I welcomed Ryan Bergara of BuzzFeed Unsolved to discuss some of his (and our) concerns with the way the Lakers are run. Is the organization capable of developing the young core beyond their initial talents? What happens if the Lakers fire Walton? Can the Lakers find a balance between maintaining patience in the growth of the young core and meeting the expectations that come with acquiring LeBron?
After venting for a while, Harrison and I both offer up our conspiracy theories to Ryan to find out whether or not he feels as if there’s reason to believe in them. This was a really fun show. Listen to it below.
Locked on Lakers
On today’s episode, I react to the all-too predictable speculation about Luke Walton’s job security. Thing is: said speculation is not nearly as baseless as it’s been previously this season. I explain why, as well as more free-throw discussion and what the latest LeBron injury update means for everyone.
