Podcast: Should the Lakers target Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler or Kawhi Leonard next summer?

The Los Angeles Lakers waived Luol Deng over the three-day Labor Day weekend, giving Locked on Lakers something to talk about for Monday’s show. This pushed back the weekly mailbag show and offered listeners an extra day to come up with questions. Once again, they outdid themselves.

To start the show, a listener asked who should be the next celebrity to receive a LeBron James Lakers jersey. There’s really only one correct answer here if we’re to remain consistent with #TeamPetty rules and regulations.

Next up, someone asked how I define greatest of all time versus best (or most talented) of all time). This is a highly subjective question so my answer is by no means the only thing to go off of here, but I did offer up how I differentiate between the two classifications and I’m sure everyone will agree with my take.

After that discussion, I answered a question about guys who will be up for max contracts either at season’s end or moving forward and whether any of those players make me nervous about the return on that investment. Unfortunately, there is a player who immediately comes to mind and it’s a direct result of the coach he plays for (sorry, Jimmy Butler).

Speaking of Butler, he comes up in a later question regarding max options next summer. It’s a popular question that I’m sure will be bandied about throughout this next season: Between Butler, Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant, who would I prefer? To me, it’s a fairly easy question, but one that will still garner a ton of debate moving forward.

These were only a few of the many questions I answered, including one about which sandwiches various Lakers would be. Yeah, we went there.
