The first official gameplay trailer for NBA 2K19 dropped on Tuesday, and cover athlete LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were heavily featured in the video.
James, who will grace the game’s cover for the second time in his career, was the star of the brand new trailer, but we also got our first look at a few of the other new Lakers including JaVale McGee and Rajon Rondo. However, one thing the trailer was noticeably missing was the re-designed Lakers uniforms, which were released earlier last week.
But even with the now-outdated jerseys, it’s hard not to get excited seeing James on the court in a Lakers uniform alongside all of his new teammates in the purple and gold. Here’s the trailer in its entirety, via NBA 2K:
NBA 2K has already released the rating for James, and it’s the highest to have been released thus far at 98 overall. James might be the only member of the Lakers that is satisfied with their 2K rating, though.
Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart have already publicly balked at their ratings — albeit the leaked, nonofficial ones — and vowed to prove everyone wrong this season. Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram are still waiting on their own 2K ratings. Ball was the highest-rated rookie in NBA 2K history in last year’s edition.
NBA 2K19 will be released on September 11. You can pre-order your own copy of the game today and get early access on September 7 at participating retailers or at NBA2K.com.
All copies will come with LeBron already on the Lakers this year. That’s not a special feature, but it’s just fun to write over and over and over again. Seriously, LeBron is a Laker. You don’t have to trade override him onto the team anymore. Crazy.
