Los Angeles Lakers players have been making their way into the gym together for a little while now, meaning a few guys have already made their acquaintance with LeBron James. One such guy: Kyle Kuzma, who sounds pretty excited about what might be to come this season.
Kuzma was asked about any discussion he’s had with James in a brief interview with MLive, and was pretty straightforward.
”(We spoke) just briefly a little bit. We’re both excited for the season. It’s going to be a great year for us.”
Kuzma doubled-down on the same sentiment later in the interview, saying that in his brief conversations with James, “we’ve just talked about and how excited we are to play with each other. We’re going to get things rolling in September.”
Kuzma also gave a particularly funny answer when asked what having James on the roster does for the Lakers’ title chances.
”Uhhh, enhance them? (Laughs) So yeah.”
Truly hot take there from Kuzma. The internet has only told Lakers fans all summer that not only does LeBron not put the Lakers into any kind of title contention, but even that perhaps the fan base should study up on the new lottery format, you know, just in case.
But as for the Lakers’ actual title chances, they’re certainly slim given how great the Golden State Warriors still are, but they’re more than capable of making some noise in the playoffs this year with insane flexibility moving forward. They’re in a great spot, and it’s still almost asinine to genuinely suggest they could miss the postseason.
And disagreements about how good the team can be aside, one thing is clear: LeBron being a Laker really is starting to get a little more real with each passing picture or quote about LeBron’s interactions with his new teammates in their new practice facility in his new colors. My goodness, you guys. We really get to watch LeBron play basketball on a nightly basis next year.
I just can’t wait until next year when Kuzma is asked whether Kawhi Leonard further improves the Lakers’ championship aspirations. Uhhh, enhance them, indeed.
