Another week, another great mailbag — both in terms of quantity and quality of questions. As with every other Monday, I hop on iTunes to see which topics listeners wanted covered and, as has become the usual, those who sent in questions came through.
We start the show with a question about the second star the Los Angeles Lakers could sign after having already landed LeBron James. Both Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant are spectacular players, but the Lakers will probably only have room enough to add one of the two (though it goes without saying if they have the opportunity to add both, no one on the roster should come between them and that course of action).
So, which guy makes more sense? This was a tough one, but I answered as best I could.
Next up on the docket: A question about how the Lakers stack up against non-Warriors teams in the Western Conference. This might be a hot take, but I actually like the matchup between the Lakers and the Houston Rockets now that Carmelo Anthony is both on the team and unwilling to recognize how bad he’s become. There’s another team out there who offers a tougher matchup.
The next question is a really interesting one regarding the team’s youth versus the veterans added after James signed. I kind of tweaked the question to make a little more sense, but the version I came up with is pretty fascinating (shouts to the original question, though!).
Basically, if you took the young core plus LeBron and pitted it against the vets (and LeBron), which group would you take? I’ll almost certainly revisit this at some point between now and the start of next season.
As always, this is just a tidbit of the full context given in the show. Listen to the full discussion below and please check out old episodes or guarantee you won’t miss any ever again by subscribing on iTunes.
