The NBA store has started selling LeBron James Lakers gear

You can go buy Lakers jerseys and shirts to celebrate LeBron James joining the purple and gold in free agency.

Via NBA store email

LeBron James may not have officially signed his Los Angeles Lakers contract, but his announcement that he had agreed to terms with the team didn’t leave a whole lot of wiggle room about his free agency intentions, so it’s no surprise that the NBA store is getting as early a start as possible at cashing in on hyped Lakers fans.

In an email this morning, the store announced that they are officially carrying LeBron James Lakers gear:

Solid move by the Lakers to push this out so that James can’t DeAndre Jordan them. It’s not tampering if the player has already publicly announced he’s coming, I guess.

Right now the store seems to only really be selling James shirts, but that will surely change soon. It’s not like the Lakers and NBA as a whole aren’t going to do everything they can to cash in on the greatest player in the league joining its best franchise, so you’ll surely be able to get all kinds of jerseys, caps and other stuff soon.

The most controversial item in the store right now, based on my Twitter mentions, seems to be this shirt:

That would appear to be a Lakers-branded shirt calling LeBron the greatest of all time, or GOAT. Raise your hand if you ever thought you would see the day where an official shirt distributed by the Lakers would ever call LeBron the GOAT.

Put your hand down, liar.

When clicking the link, the store also alerts you that there is a 20 percent off deal with the code “AND1” right now, so that’s probably worth noting if you’re heading over to get your LeBron fix before summer league starts. But don’t worry, despite James not signing on the dotted line just yet, I doubt this stuff is going anywhere any time soon.
