The Los Angeles Lakers will end their week of pre-draft workouts with two of the 2018 NBA draft’s most high profile sharpshooters in Duke’s Grayson Allen and Maryland’s Kevin Huerter, with the latter being reported Wednesday night by Marisa Jacques of Spectrum News.

Allen is the bigger name in the college basketball community because of his successful four-year career with the Blue Devlis and his handful of scandals on the court, but between Huerter and Allen, Huerter has the best chance of getting taken in the first round, assuming he stays in the draft.

In his sophomore season with the Terrapins, Huerter averaged 14.8 points while shooting the 3-Ball at a 41.7 percent clip on 175 attempts. The Ringer dubbed Huerter a “Discount Klay Thompson” because of his combination of shooting and size (6-foot-7) on the wing.

Most mock drafts have the 19-year-old wing going in the second round anywhere from the early-30s to the mid-40s where the Lakers will be picking, but after an impressive showing at the NBA Draft Combine scrimmages last week, Huerter could sneak into the first round.

While some might consider it a reach to take Huerter for the Lakers at No. 25, if his shooting is as legitimate as it looks, he would be a welcome addition to a team that finished second-to-last in 3-point percentage during the regular season at 33.4 percent. The Lakers’ front office could also trade down if they believe Huerter could fall deeper into the first round.

The Atlanta Hawks have picks Nos. 30 and 34 and could emerge as a potential trade candidate for the Lakers on draft night.

Whether it’s Allen or Huerter, it’s clear the Lakers are going to have options for mobile and lengthy shooters on the wing with one of their picks.
